Biblioteka Res Facta Nova

Informacje o reaktywacji serii oraz o dwóch pierwszych tomach Biblioteki Res Facta Nova

“Res Facta Nova” is inviting papers for volume 24 which will be published in year 2023.

In this volume we would like to focus on topic theory and topical analysis in music, especially music of the 20th and 21st centuries (but not exclusively). On the one hand, we are interested in studies of new directions in topic theory and new musical topics. On the other hand, papers presenting “classical” implementation or overview of the theory, as well as topics in musical repertoire before 1900 are also most welcome since this volume of “Res Facta Nova” will be the first reconnaissance of the topic theory published in Poland.

“Res Facta Nova. Studies in Contemporary Music” is an academic journal devoted to contemporary music. From the beginning (it was founded in 1967), regardless of the vicissitudes of Polish culture and cultural policies, it has been an important landmark in the musicological, critical-musical and music-related writings in Poland. Among the journal’s founders were Michał Bristiger, Stefan Jarociński, Józef Patkowski and Mieczysław Tomaszewski. The Scientific Board of Res Facta Nova is represented by the eminent scholars: Paolo Emilio Carapezza (Palermo) Lisa Jakelski (Rochester, NY), Michael Spitzer (Liverpool), Helen Geyer (Weimar), Stefan Keym (Leipzig) and Laura Zattra (IRCAM) among others.

“Res Facta Nova” concentrates on publishing articles concerning contemporary music compositions (from Poland and abroad), as well as texts on issues such as the semiotics, aesthetics, philosophy, sociology, anthropology and psychology of music, with particular focus on contemporary art. From the year 2000 the journal has been including publications in English, and articles by foreign authors writing on Polish contemporary music play an important role among them.

The journal is published both in digital and printed version (by PWM Edition). DOI: 10.14746/rfn ISSN: 1897-824X ISSN (Online): 2544-9303 Articles are licensed under A Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives 4.0 International License.

Res Facta Nova” adheres to a double-blind peer-reviewing policy. The journal is indexed in ERIH Plus, Index-Copernicus (ICI Journals Master List) and CEEOL.

The articles should be submitted to the editorial board of “Res Facta Nova” by the end of February 2023 and should include:
1. ORCID number of the author, 2. affiliation of the author, 3. summary in English (up to 250 words), 4. keywords in English (5-7 keywords), 5. bibliography
